WEDDING SERVICES / TAI CHI CLASSES
MASSAGE AND BODY WORK / YOGA CLASSES
I have lived in Hawaii since 1996. I moved here after completing my PhD. I previously lived in Northern California, where I had a private practice in counseling and body therapies. I taught at College of the Redwoods in the Psychology Department specializing in Holistic Health programs. My Bachelor Degree is in Health and Physical Education, and my Master's degree is in Sociology. I have a PhD is in Psychology.
I have been involved in several community projects since moving to Kona. I am the past executive director for Friends for Fitness, a non-profit community-based organization with specific emphasis on developing the walking/jogging track at the Old Airport State Park into a more usable and effective area for promoting physical activities. This project continues today, involving community groups and individuals in developing garden areas along the track and attracting more and more people to the walking/jogging path.

I was the past President of the Kona Mauka Rotary Club, and a past member of the Management Advisor Committee for Kona Community Hospital. I worked with the Department of Health promoting physical activity and nutrition programs in West Hawaii, and I have also participated in a year long Leadership Training program through the Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce.
Currently I am teaching classes in Yoga and Tai Chi in Kona, as well as being the physical activity instructor at Kona Village Resort, where I also teach Pilate's. I have a private practice in counseling and massage therapy, and also work at Mauka Mist Healing Therapies Center. Body Therapy has been a part of my life since graduating from IPSB (Institute for Psycho-Structural Balancing in San Diego, CA) in 1986. I have a variety of modalities in my practice, including Hawaiian Lomi Lomi massage, Swedish/Esalen massage, Reflexology, Applied Kinesiology and One Brain trainings.
Tai Chi was a part of my program at IPSB and I have continued my learning and teaching of tai chi principles. I have taught in hospital settings for patients and physicians as well as university and school settings. My class in Kona practices on the beach, which is one of the "best classrooms." We watch the sun set over the Pacific Ocean together.
I have been performing wedding ceremonies since 1995, when I performed the ceremony for my nephew David, in Portland, Oregon. The ceremony I perform is tailored to each couple and their preferences. There are many local rituals and unusual Hawaiian touches that can be added to a Hawaiian-style wedding creating a unique celebration.
